Who We Are

The SEMIRARA MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE (SEMCO) has been serving the community since the early 80s. Originally established as the Semirara Employees Fund (SEF) during Semirara Coal Corporation's (SCC) initial mining stage, we began by providing essential savings and lending services for SCC's regular employees.

1990

Registered as Semirara Coal Corporation Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative Inc. (SEMCO INC) with BACOD (Registration No. R-VI-FF-468-RR), starting with:

  • Members Equity: ₱746,775
  • Total Assets: ₱2,141,202
  • Net Surplus: ₱107,057
  • 730 Members
1991

Confirmed under CDA Certificate No. ILO C-1292 (RA 6938) as a Primary Cooperative, Multi-Purpose/Non-Agricultural Cooperative.

2006

Adopted current name: SEMIRARA MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE (SEMCO)

2009

Re-registered under the Philippine Cooperative Code 2008 (RA 9520)

Today, SEMCO's membership extends beyond SMPC employees, embracing island-based private and public school teachers, school staff, business owners, market vendors, and Operator-members of SEMTODA.
